Why factory-direct matters

Most installers order your windows in.We build them.

When an installer buys from a supplier, three things happen. You pay a margin on top of a margin. Lead times sit outside their control. And when a unit arrives a few millimetres out, the conversation becomes a negotiation between two companies rather than a fix. Because Burl & Bow manufactures and installs, that entire layer disappears.

Our factory, our schedule

Your order is a job on our own production plan, not a queue position with somebody else's supplier.

Surveyed, then built to that survey

Real measurements drive the manufacturing drawings, so units fit the opening you actually have.

One team accountable

The people who made it are the people who fit it. Nothing gets passed between companies.

Certified on completion

Replacement work is installed under FENSA certification and self-certified for Building Regulations.

What South West London homeownerssay after the work is done

Working with Allwood Windows and Doors was so easy. All the staff care about their customers. They are polite, courteous and nothing seems to be a problem. It was so easy to pay them, each stage they invoiced you so you didn't have to pay all up front. I will definitely use this company again.

Allwood Windows have been a breath of fresh air, they dealt with everything effortlessly and the job was completed to perfection, from survey to installation I genuinely could not rate these guys and more highly, and most importantly the windows and doors look beautiful. We couldn't be more pleased.

Very happy with our windows, and the overall experience. We ordered 15 painted wood casement windows in a variety of sizes, some opening, some not, some with Georgian bars, some not. We also had two different paint colours, and were colour-matching to F&B colours we're using elsewhere. They dealt with all our requests with ease. There's a real personal touch all the way through from survey to fitting. The windows themselves are great quality, and the price was very competitive.

Specification advice

Choosing between timber, aluminiumand uPVC in a London property

Most enquiries we take in South West London start with the same question: which material is right for this house? There is no universal answer, and any installer who gives you one before seeing the property is selling rather than advising. Read the detail on timber sash and casement windows, slimline aluminium windows and uPVC windows in South West London, or compare aluminium bi-fold doors with bespoke timber front doors.

  • Timber

    Period & conservation

Timber windows remain the correct specification for the majority of period properties in Wimbledon, Richmond, Putney and Clapham, particularly where a conservation officer is involved. Because we manufacture, we can match a sightline, a glazing bar layout, a horn profile or a specific paint colour rather than approximating it. Engineered timber cores and factory-applied finishes have also removed most of the maintenance burden that homeowners historically associated with wood.

  • Aluminium

    Wide spans & slim sightlines

Aluminium windows and doors earn their place where spans are wide and frames need to disappear. On rear extensions, garden-facing bi-folds and sliding sets, aluminium delivers slim sightlines and structural strength that timber and uPVC cannot match at the same dimensions, with a powder-coated finish that stays stable for decades.

  • uPVC

    Thermal & low maintenance

uPVC windows and doors are the pragmatic choice where thermal performance and low maintenance matter more than heritage detailing, rear elevations, flats, rental property and new-build. Contemporary profiles are a long way from the bulky frames of twenty years ago.

Our standard

Made to measure is the standard, not the upgrade

London housing stock is not standard. Openings settle, brickwork moves, and two windows on the same elevation are rarely identical. Every unit we make is built to the measurements taken at survey, which is why our installations do not depend on packers and filler to disguise a poor fit.

That discipline matters most on the details buyers notice later: even reveals, consistent shadow gaps, glazing bars that line through across an elevation, and ironmongery that operates smoothly at the top of a sash rather than sticking after the first winter.

Trade and contractor supply

We supply builders, contractors and developers on a trade basis across London with the same factory-direct pricing and scheduled deliveries to site. For contractors, the advantage is simple: a manufacturer will give you a straight answer on a lead time, because the lead time belongs to them.

HUP! modular extensions

For homeowners considering more than glazing, our HUP! modular extension system produces a weathertight structure considerably faster than traditional build, with far less disruption on a residential street, an important consideration on the tight terraces of Balham, Battersea and Wandsworth.

Because we manufacture and install every unit ourselves, the specification advice you get from us comes from production experience rather than a brochure.

Straight answers

Questions we areasked before every survey

What does manufacturer-backed installation actually mean?
It means the company that makes your windows and doors is the same company that fits them. There is no reseller in the middle adding margin, no supplier to blame if a unit arrives wrong, and no gap between the survey and the factory floor. One organisation is accountable from the first measurement to the final handover.
Which areas of South West London do you cover?
We install across South West London, including Wimbledon, Richmond, Putney, Kingston upon Thames, Wandsworth, Clapham, Battersea, Balham and Twickenham, along with the surrounding postcodes. If your property sits just outside these areas, call us and we will tell you honestly whether we can help.
Can you match windows for a conservation area or listed property?
Yes. Because we manufacture rather than order from a catalogue, we can build to a specific sightline, glazing bar layout, horn detail or paint colour. Bring us the planning requirement or the existing window and we will specify to it.
Do you supply to builders and developers as well as homeowners?
We do. Trade supply is a core part of the business, with factory-direct pricing and scheduled deliveries to site for builders, contractors and developers working across London.
Is your installation FENSA certified?
Yes, replacement windows and doors are installed under FENSA certification and self-certified against the relevant Building Regulations, so you receive the certificate you need for a future sale.
How long does a typical project take?
Lead times depend on material, finish and the size of the order, and we will not quote a number we cannot hold. At survey stage we give you a manufacturing and installation window in writing, and because manufacturing is in-house we control that schedule ourselves.
